Quickstart

Welcome! In this guide, we'll walk you through the basics of using the AskGIZA API, from creating an account to making your first request.

Step 1: Create a AskGIZA account

Sign up for an account at app.askgiza.com, then invite your team — roles decide who can connect sources, ask, and manage the workspace.

Step 2: Generate an API key

Create an API key from Settings → API, then export it or add it as an environment variable:

Bash
export GIZA_API_KEY="your_api_key"

Or add it to a .env file in your project directory:

Bash
GIZA_API_KEY=your_api_key

Step 3: Install an SDK

Pick your language and install an HTTP client:

Bash
pip install requests

Step 4: Make your first request

Point your first question at the workspace. AskGIZA answers with the claim and the citations behind it:

Bash
curl https://api.askgiza.com/v1/ask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $GIZA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"question": "What caused the March 15 payment failures?"}'
JSON
{
  "answer": "A cloud provider timeout caused the 8% failure spike.",
  "citations": [
    { "source": "Operations_Review.mp3", "loc": "03:42" },
    { "source": "Order_Fulfillment.pdf", "loc": "p. 7" }
  ]
}

Step 5: Verify the citation

In the app, open any reference and the workspace splits: the answer stays on the left while the full document — PDF, sheet, image, or recording — fills the right, scrolled to the exact page, row, or minute the claim came from. If anything reads wrong, ask AskGIZA to revise it; the thread keeps the context.

Now that you've made your first request, explore what AskGIZA can do — every answer below is cited the same way.
